About us

ALL INDIA FOUNDATION OF DEAF WOMEN is a National Level organization working for deaf women to rehabilitate and upgrade their status in the society.

 

It came into existence in tear 2014 and is registered under Section 25 of Companies Act. AIFDW is purely a Non- Government Organization. It is the only platform for deaf women to get rehabilitate through our various programs like:  SKILL TRAINING, MATRIMONIAL SAMMELAN, GENERATING JOB OPPORTUNITIES, NATIONAL CONFERENCE, AWARENESS PROGRAMS, SCREENING CAMPS, LEGAL AWARENESS, CULTURAL FESTIVAL, SPORTS COMPETITIONS, INDIAN SIGN LANUGAGE WORKSHOP AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTERS etc.

Our Founder Chairperson Ms. Rajyalakshmi Rao and Founder General Secretary Ms. Uma Kapoor are back bones of the organization. With their dedication and hard work today, there are 15 States affiliated with AIFDW. We have been successful in supporting these 15 states to establish Skill Training centers for deaf women.

01 OUR MISSION

To Empower hearing impaired underprivileged Children and women through Developmental initiatives focusing on Educational, Social, Economic, Cultural and Technological aspects.

02 AFFILIATED STATES

There are 15 States affiliated with AIFDW. The State Chapters are:

Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.

The logo comprises of Pink Blue and Green color. Let’s see the significance of each color.

03 AIMS & OBJECTIVES

1.To develop an innovative, integrated, Community based programme which will assimilate the hearing impaired into their communities.

2. Promote Self-Reliance of Persons with Disabilities {PWD} and their parents to explore and expand their talents. To promote Sports, Arts, and Culture among Person with Disabilities, empower them through activities and exposure to the World.

3. Help hearing impaired and their family to be able to earn according to their capacities.

4. Awareness of their Rights and Facilitate them in exercising those Rights.

5. Educate and sensitize public to the issues of hearing Impaired.

6. To promote Indian Sign Language.

7. To integrate with main-stream education.

8. Create Awareness about PWD Act, RCI Act, and National Trust Act.

9. Integration with CBO- Community Based Organization for Job placement of Deaf candidates.

10. Enable them to Contribute to Family and Society through skill training.

11. Develop Leadership Quality in hearing impaired women.

12. Awareness and Sensitization: * Rallies, Awareness and Sensitization Programme, World Disability Day Celebration.

13. Advocacy and Legislation: Persons with Disabilities {PWD} ACT, RCI ACT,NATIONAL TRUST ACT,MENTAL HEALTH ACT. To create awareness of and sensitization towards the Person’s with Disability (PWD) Act 1995, Rehabilitation Council Of India (RCI) Act1992 and National Trust Act 1999

14. NETWORKING: Networking with Various Govt and Non Govt. Organizations, Panchayat, Block, District and State and National level.

15. To establish Information Bureaus for hearing impaired and provide them information on various issues like: Their Legal Rights, Facilities for them, Employment assistance and getting scholarships / grants to deserving and poor students / artist.

16. Provide Matrimonial assistance to Deaf by Conducting Sammelans in our State Chapters twice a year.

The beneficiaries coming to our skill centers are:-

1. Neo Literate Deaf Women

 2. Pass outs of Primary Schools

3. Dropouts of Formal Education

4. Deaf Boys & Girls  

5. All other Deaf Boys & Girls interested in availing the life- long learning opportunities.

AIFDW aims to reach out to every needy deaf woman in India and uplift their status in the society.
